Hue Are You?
So what’s your favorite color? Most of us have a favorite but for me it sometime changes. Today it is green but when I was a child it was pink. I can remember coloring with my mother and opening up my new 64 set of Crayolas. Oh what an exciting decision it was to choose just the right color for the picture in my color book.
Today, when planning for a project, choosing a color can be just as exciting and even a little daunting as when we were young. Color gives your project “a feeling” so it’s an important part of your decision making. Choices can influence what other combinations of color and texture will look good with what you chose. To find inspiration for your project, look around to see what shades speak to you. Here are a few tips to help you with your decisions.

Ask Mother Nature For Advice:
If spring daffodils are your go to blooms let their yellow petals and green stems influence your color scheme. Or if you love the fall time let the crimsons, burnt oranges and olive greens of a grape harvest be your guidance.

Take A Cue From Culture:
Love a famous work of art or photo? Often a full palette of colors can be pulled from it.

Free Your Imagination:
Anything can spark a palette idea. A Tiffany blue box, a wonderful display at Anthropologie, or a design from a piece of pottery. If it makes you happy, work those hues into your art!

Look To A Favorite Spot:
If you love the beach, borrow the colors found in the ivory sands, azure waters and all the colorful beach towels.
